Smart Metering

Field Operations

Smart meters provide real time information on energy use and will help bring an end to estimated bills. They can also give customers greater control over their energy consumption, helping them save money. That’s why the government wants every UK home and business to have a Smart meter.

E.ON is helping to drive this revolution. We’ve set our sights on installing 8 million of these meters over the next few years. And to make that happen, we’re creating one of the biggest – and most advanced – field operation teams in the UK.

Smart meters are the next generation of electricity and gas meters – and we’re investing in them in a big way. Help us, and we'll invest in you too.

Technical roles

If you’re a qualified Electric, Gas or Dual Fuel Meter Technician, there’s no better place to bring your career than E.ON as a Smart Meter Technician.  Not only do we have a strong reputation within the metering services sector and a firm commitment to safety and transparency, we also have a market leading benefits package – it includes 26 days’ holiday, a generous pension scheme and the chance to choose from some 20 flexible benefits. It’s all about making this a great place to work. After all, the happier you are, the happier our customers will be.

When you join us, we’ll put you through a comprehensive induction programme: one that will teach you everything there is to know about how E.ON installs and maintains meters. As well as your technical expertise, we’ll ensure you’re fully equipped for the job, interacting with our customers and staying safe at all times.

If you’re looking for your next step, we have other technical roles specialising in electric and gas metering.

Our technical positions are available in various locations nationwide, so if you’ve got the know-how, there is sure to be an opportunity that works for you.

Management and support roles

To meet our growing customer demand, we rely on more than just our technicians. Behind the scenes, there is a large support function that covers anything from liaising with customers on the installation of their Smart meters to managing and developing our field based technician talent.

With the increased Smart meter demands our capacity planning and customer contact centre roles are becoming increasingly important. If you think you can help our customers, click the link below to see if any roles are available.

Our management and support roles are predominantly based in Kingswinford, West Midlands. So if you’re looking to help E.ON outside the traditional technician role, see what our office based roles have to offer.
