Do you accept applications from people with disabilities?

Absolutely. We are an equal opportunities and clear two ticks accredited employer.

Our recruitment process has been designed to ensure that all candidates are treated fairly and reasonable adjustments can be made at each stage of the process.

What will the online application involve?

When you first apply, you will be asked to answer a number of questions, upload your current CV and complete a questionnaire (where you’ll be asked to judge various situations).

If you are successful at this stage, we’ll invite you to complete some online ability tests.

Can I defer my offer?

Unfortunately, we don't allow deferred entries on the graduate scheme. If you are successful in the recruitment process, we expect you to start your placement in September 2017.

If you wish to start in the following September, please check our website again during the following year.

Can I apply to more than one role or more than once per year?

We want you to apply just for the role you think is most suitable for you. It is not possible to apply for more than one role within one year, but you can apply again the following year – either for the same or a different role.

What training and development will I be given?

Our dedicated talent boards and Scheme Leaders will source the very best opportunities for you. You’ll have on-the-job training, structured performance management, and formal training activities. We call it a ‘blended learning’ approach.

Your time here will be balanced and structured, with area specific development, supported by the business and with a focus on developing our unique leadership competencies.

Your skills will be honed throughout your placements, and you will get plenty of broad business experience. A structured support network will help you every step of the way.

Your Line Manager will help you on a daily basis to make sure that you have what you need to perform in your role, and will undertake regular performance reviews with you.

Your Scheme Leader, Mentor and Buddies will provide ongoing support and will provide advice on rotational placements. Your Scheme Leader will also help guide you through the scheme and help you to find your first substantive role.

You’ll develop self-awareness and be encouraged to drive your own development.

We believe professional qualifications are vital, so you'll have the chance to study for professional qualifications relevant to your scheme.

What happens at the end of the scheme?

We guarantee you a role on your completion of our graduate scheme. During your different placements, you'll help us to identify the best future for you here.

Where will I be based?

It all depends on your scheme.

You'll get experience in a number of different teams that may be based anywhere in the UK. The majority of the placements for non-Engineering roles are based in the Midlands area (Nottingham or Coventry), while our Engineering graduates are based across the country.

Most of our schemes also have an international placement, so for the duration of the scheme and beyond, you're expected to be internationally mobile.

If you complete an international placement, our internal mobility team will support you. They'll put you in touch with reputable housing agents that we’ve used before. We can also help with your transition when moving abroad – things like language lessons, advice on tax implications and setting up bank accounts. We'll let you know which other of our graduates are working in that region, so you can meet up while you're out there.

Is there an application deadline?

Application deadline details will be available closer to the opening date for applications.

Once open, to avoid disappointment, we strongly advise you to apply well in advance of these dates. Our schemes attract great interest and we begin assessing candidates in our assessment centres before the closing date. This means we may have to close a scheme early if all the places are filled.

When would I start?

Our graduate scheme starts every year in early September. Before you begin your first placement you'll get the opportunity to attend a 1 week induction based in the Midlands with the whole graduate intake. This is a great opportunity to get to know everybody, and find out more about the support and development you'll get on the scheme.

What level of support will I receive?

You’ll have lots of support. As well as your placement manager, a buddy will be assigned to you who is one of our current graduates, you’ll have a mentor who is a senior leader and you’ll already know the scheme leader from your welcome days prior to joining.

What input do I have on my placements?

The Graduate Talent Boards have overall responsibility for the deployment of graduates. The roles will be dependent on three main criteria; business need, personal aspirations and developmental need.

We’ll ensure the opportunities presented to you will enable you to get the experience needed to leave the graduate scheme as a professional in your specialist area.

Flexibility is essential if you want to maximise your opportunities on our graduate scheme.

Do you offer summer placements?

Yes, we offer summer placements in various parts of our business. More information to follow shortly.

Can I change scheme once I've started?

Not normally – although we will consider such requests on a case-by-case basis

What are the entry requirements?

The minimum degree classification we accept is a 2:1 or equivalent.

For our Engineering and Technology leadership programme, we are looking for engineering, science, technology or maths Masters graduates with a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the same field.

Do you sponsor non-EEU applications?

Graduates: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sponsorship for our graduate scheme. If you are applying, you must be able to demonstrate your right to live and work in the UK on a full time basis.

Year in Industry/Summer placement: If you are studying at a university with a Tier 4 licence, you are welcome to apply for one of our 48-week Year in Industry placements.
